The Carrera 3.0 was fitted with a variation of the 930 Turbo’s 2994 cc engine (minus the turbocharger). It developed 200 PS (147 kW; 197 hp) in contrast to the older Carrera 2.7 MFI model’s 210 PS (154 kW; 207 hp). The crankcase and gearbox housing were made of aluminium rather than magnesium for improved reliability. Magnesium cases were reviled for thermal expansion/contraction issues as engines grew in displacement and heat generation also increased. With power and torque increase, the 2.4-litre cars also got a newer, stronger transmission, identified by its Porsche type number 915.

But Porsches don’t come with panel gaps, and the Germans do a very nice interior. If you want a classic Porsche but don’t fancy getting a 911, this may well be your best choice. There was also a turbo version, but turbochargers and the systems around them weren’t exactly great in the 1980s.
A Taycan 4S can go from 0 to 60, while the Taycan Turbo hits that mark in less than three seconds. What’s more, the mammoth and instantaneous torque available can make a big difference on a track. It made its debut back in 2009 and is another example of Porsche basically doing everything now instead of limiting itself to sports coupes. With a starting price of $99,900, it’s definitely on the higher end of the luxury sedan market. It’s direct competitors are theoretically Audi e‑tron GT, and the Maserati Ghibli, with the like’s of Audi’s A8, BMW’s 7-Series, and Mercedes’ S Class being larger vehicles.

However, the Cayman remains a potent sports car even when stacked up against its older brother. Buyers today will see Caymans from around 2008 on the market for around $15,000 (for a good example through a private seller), making them a quality option for a Porsche enthusiast on the hunt for a classic model. The Cayman combines the convertible aesthetic of the Boxster with the classic body shape pulled almost directly from the 911 blueprint.

A buyer of a new Porsche needs access to the dealer, but Porsche ownership tends to be much longer than most cars at nearly 10 years. Of course, insurance rates vary wildly depending on a few factors, and 911s are much more expensive cars, to begin with.

The new 991 is also equipped with a new feature called Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC). Porsche claims that this new feature alone has shaved 4 seconds off the standard car’s lap time around the Nürburgring. PDCC helps the car corner flat and is said to improve high-speed directional stability and outright lateral body control, but according to several reviews, the car is more prone to understeer when equipped with this new technology.
It’s a bit bare-bones and not as flashy as the more prestigious vehicles in Porsche’s lineup. But it’s a somewhat affordable coupe built by the legendary German automaker. If you buy one, 911 owners may bully you for not having a “proper Porsche,” but that won’t change the fact that you actually own a proper Porsche. Porsche’s company logo stems from the coat of arms of the Free People’s State of Württemberg of Weimar Germany of 1918–1933, which had Stuttgart as its capital. The heraldic symbols, combined with the texts „Porsche” and „Stuttgart”, do not form a conventional coat of arms, since heraldic achievements never spell out the name of the armiger nor the armiger’s home town in the shield.
